A Less Hypocritical Duffy List Is Here
I'm not going to tell you to find a full time job anymore, because I never did — and it was the best thing to ever happen to my career.
I’m Never Applying To Another Job
I’m happier.
I’m healthier.
I’ve made more money than ever before.
I’ve slept better than I have in years.
Between 2020 and 2022, I was laid off from 4 separate roles. Last December, I decided I would never apply for a full time job again.
In the decade since graduating from college, the “stability” I’d been promised never materialized. Every year ended with the same story — find a new job, find a new apartment, find a new medical plan, doctor, dentist, etc., etc., etc.
So, instead, I threw everything into building the company I’ve always wanted to work for — Róisín Consulting. It has not been easy, but I wouldn’t trade a single second for anything.
I’ve sipped champagne at The Baccarat Hotel and helped their account cross the 100,000 follower mark on Instagram.
Pride was celebrated with the city’s finest views atop 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge alongside Amanda Lapore and Buddy the Rat while coordinating social coverage.
I retrieved mannequins and helped coordinate a New York Fashion Week runway show during for New York Culture Club, and we were featured by Forbes, The US Sun, and Yahoo! Lifestyle.
I’ve explored the world’s relationship with life, death, and spirituality as I build strategies to grow Coming Home from 893 YouTube subscribers to more than 120,000 subscribers and over 10,000,000+ views.
I’ve done all of this on my own time.
On my own terms.
Using tools that anyone can sign up for — most of which are free.
The New Duffy List
While this is still going to be a list of job opportunities, it’s no longer going to focus only on pursuing the path of a full time job.
This time around, I’m sharing a list of 5 first steps you can take to build a digital “home” for your own business venture — no matter what that may be.
5 Steps To Building A “Home” For Your Business Online
Create a new Gmail account to use as your web and marketing “admin” account. This will be your central access point for everything.
Set up your website using that new Gmail account.
*Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, and Wordpress are all excellent options for free and low-cost custom websites that you can build without needing to know how to code.
Set up a Google Analytics account to track traffic on your website with the admin Gmail account
Set up a Mailchimp account attached to the admin Gmail
Create the basic pages & profiles for your business on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
Want to Take Action?
If you want to go a bit deeper, I’m offering a 5-week course beginning in January of 2024 to go through what comes next.
Yes, I’m charging for access to these courses, but this is not going to become a newsletter that exists solely to promote my business.
If you are an existing Duffy List subscriber who wants to join, reply to this email for a free seat in one of the first cohorts.
Hope to see you for the first day of class.
Until next time, remember:
In the face of everything, grow.
